The source for this is Ralph Valve of What If Gaming. Sledgehammer are allegedly planning on releasing a sequel to Advanced Warfare in 2025. Valve (that’s going to get confusing) claims that the relatively cold reception for Call Of Duty: Vanguard, set during World War 2, led to Sledgehammer rethinking their plans to create more games featuring Vanguard’s characters. They revived the Advanced Warfare concept as a result. Valve doesn’t mention sources for this claim, but he has leaked accurate information about Modern Warfare 2 before....

The video shows an interview with KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov, and introduces the idea of a spy codenamed Perseus infiltrating western intelligence to subvert the US. It’s mostly real Cold War footage, presumably to set up the events we might see in the game’s campaign. For those that haven’t been keeping track of the ARG, it’s pretty much just been a very slow reveal of dates for more reveals. Fans have managed to solve a bunch of puzzles on the website pawntakespawn....

In the end I played exactly two games over the break. One was Jackbox (or, technically, the free seasonal Jackbox DLC - “Streaming Jackbox With 6 Other People Who Need To Sign Up To Discord”) and the other was Call Of The Sea.

Channel 4’s Sales site announced last week that they’re looking for a brand partner for a potential reboot of GamesMaster (as VGC spotted). The plan is for a weekly show where five celebrities would battle it out in different games until only one remains, with other gaming bits and pieces scattered throughout. Sounds like, as in the original, it might balance celebfights with previews and cheats and such. The show would be “social first”, they say, then broadcast on E4 and gathered on All 4....

Here’s the announcement trailer: The DLC lets you construct modular airport buildings, clicking terminals together and connecting buildings via “concourse networks” according to the Paradox website. You set the ticket prices, and you’ll unlock new airport buildings to construct depending on the overall success of the airport. Importantly, you can also link your airport up with other forms of public transport, letting your citizens ride bus and railway links to catch their flight....

Tin has composed for several Civilization games, including the main themes of Civs 4 and 6. Won a Grammy award for Baba Yetu and all. He also did music for Offworld Trading Company, the previous game from Johnson and Mohawk Games. While Civilization might seem an obvious point of comparison here, given the people working on it, our Old World early access review last year found it was its own beastie, with an interesting order system and a focus on dynasties built with heirs....

Absolute Drift: Zen Edition is the free update from 2016 that developers Funselektor Labs released in partnership with Race The Sun developers FlippFly. On top of the main game’s three modes and 34 levels, the Zen Edition adds drift line challenges, ghost cars for watching other folks on the same course, and better gamepad conpatibility. It also adds “event challenges” and new nighttime “midnight tracks” for challenging experienced drifters. You can snag Absolute Drift for free on GOG until 2pm BST (9am EDT) on Saturday, June 19th....

In Matthew’s earlier preview, he noted a similarly evocative atmosphere to that of the YouTube channel Virtual Japan, which has featured one particularly calming walking tour through a rain-soaked Tokyo. Ghostwire has walking, and rain, and Tokyo, so when review code came in we thought we’d have a crack at making our own. And here it is, in 4K with maxed-out ray tracing: Other than how the soothing sounds of rainfall are occasionally punctuated by either bad guy speeches or tengu squawks, I like to think this is a nice, relaxing way to spend six and a half minutes....

After the story of Cook Serve Delicious escalated to the point that 3 was about driving a food truck across a war-tor USA, facing attacks from rival food trucks, Cook Serve Forever seems to be in a slightly cheerier place. It’s about a young chef who comes to the solarpunk (a green utopian vibe) city of Helianthus hoping to become a top chef like her idol. Though I do notice Boston is apparently under millitary control, so it’s not all sunshine and rooftop roses....

“Curious Expedition 2 is a turn-based expedition roguelike that requires players to manage their resources and party members to keep insanity at bay and find glory,” say the developers. You’ll embark on expeditions on behalf of several secret society exploration clubs, each of which have their own items and characters to unlock as you support them. Maschinen-Mensch also say that they realized the original Curious Expedition accidentally became a bit of a procedural story generator....

As Eurogamer reported last week, Cyberpunk’s concurrent player numbers have been climbing enough to make it one of the most played games on Steam. In the past 24 hours, SteamDB shows the game peaked at 86,130 concurrent players. Just a month ago that figure was around 16,000, and the rising player count doesn’t seem to be levelling off. Twitch views for the game also ramped up from the low thousands to nearly 70,000 at the start of September....

So far they’ve released early access space station sim Stationeers, VR game Out Of Ammo, and a sequel for that....
