Komami say that GetsuFumaDen is inspired by the Japanese ukiyo-e art style, and it does make for some really neat looking levels. The bosses are especially fantastic, even if they’re also, you know, giant, terrible demons. You can spot several of them down here in the teaser trailer, including the giant centipede and the five-headed hydra and the skeleton with terrifying teeth. As for the hacking and slashing of those bosses—and everything between them—Konami say that you’ll use a variety of weapon types with special moves....

Lonely Mountains: Downhill is a singleplayer game about bombing it down mountain tracks on a bicycle. Controls (I used a gamepad, though it has mouse options including following your cursor) are simple: pedal; brake; steer; and sprint. This is enough for a good-feeling bicycle, which acts pleasantly bike-y across movements from a gentle turn on a flat path to desperately locking the brakes and slalom-skidding through a murderous descent dotted with trees and boulders....

The idea is that you can “be you” (as in, it the character creator is detailed enough to make someone who actually looks like you) or “be literally anyone” (as in, you can make someone who is all wacky and weird). In fairness there does appear to be a huge array of clothes, accessories, and ways to tweak your body - plus eight whole voice options, and an animal skull face mask!...

Arriving today with her own new story mission, Bishop (shockingly) excels in ranged combat, pew-pew’ing her enemies with a grab-bag of fancy arrows. As per Square Enix’ reveal post, Bishop arrives with a broad toolkit filled with different kinds of arrowheads - tranquilisers for stunning, timed explosives for ‘sploding, smoke screens for evasion, and warp arrows for getting out of a tight spot fast. Combined with a teleporting blink and holographic decoys, her best bet is to keep enemies off her back and at a distance....

First Person Mode made by “Jade” on Nexus Mods changes the exploration mode to first-person for Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 in the remaster. So, when you’re wandering around areas like the Citadel, Omega, the Normandy, or anywhere else you’re not in combat, the game’s camera will be firmly planted in Shepard’s skull. Unfortunately, if you whip out your gun or start conversations the camera will revert back to how BioWare intended....

Minecraft Dungeons’ next DLC, the Howling Peaks, is coming in December with new missions, mobs, and gear. It sounds like it’ll be leapfrogging Minecraft proper a bit by including those new goat mobs that are coming to the Caves & Cliffs update next year. The Howling Peaks will also introduce wind as a force that can push players and items around functioning as an obstacle or a solution to puzzles....

It’s nice to see Dungeons follow in big Minecraft’s footsteps with the cross-play stuff. They haven’t announced exactly when we get that functionality yet, but Mojang say it’ll be coming with some “cool new free content” that players will get regardless of which edition of Dungeons they own. Before we get all that though, the new Jungle Awakens DLC is coming out in July, inviting you to “a distant, dangerous jungle to fight a mysterious power”....

It all starts familiarly enough. God knows I’ve started a few misguided projects myself by posting a picture on Twitter with the caption “so, I had an idea”. As a Monster Hunter greenhorn, I have to say that Malzeno does not look like a dragon I’d like to idly tussle with. Capcom say the Elder Dragon has “the capacity to bring entire kingdoms crumbling down” and I can easily believe that. Malzeno has a more vampiric theme than other signature beasties, see, and can inflict the ‘Bloodblight’ status on prey to suck away their lifeforce. It also uses parasites to pinch your strength and stamina, and if your hunter’s lifeforce dwindles to nothing then Malzeno will evolve into a bigger, badder form....

When Rise finally launched on PC last Wednesday, some unlucky players found themselves trapped in a terrible loop: you need to create a new save to start playing, but it failed to create a new save, but it would still tell them to create a new save, but it would fail to create a new save, but etc. A real problem. That should now be fixed, thanks to the release of patch v3....

The 2014 title was one of the first major releases to emulate FromSoftware’s success with Soulslike inspirations, so it’s interesting to see the reboot move away from some of the more traditional fantasy-vibe marketing of the original.
