The QA workers have organised under the name Game Workers Alliance (GWA) and have partnered with the Communication Workers Of America union. In a statement posted after the ruling, the CWA said that union election ballots would be sent to eligible workers on April 29th and the votes counted on May 23rd. Part of the disagreement between the GWA and Activision Blizzard related to who should be eligible to vote in the union....

And yes, I’m sure the whole 2% of Steam users who actually own 4K displays are well up for the RTX 3080. But what about the folk who already own an RTX card? I’d be feeling pretty annoyed if I’d spent £700-odd on an RTX 2080 card in the last year or so only for this to come along now, and I feel particularly bad for the people who bought RTX 2080 Tis, whose £1000 / $1000+ graphics cards are soon going to be shown up by the RTX 3070 when it launches for literally half that amount next month....
Devs Snapshot Games say the ‘Hastur’ update finally introduces the long-requested feature of Steam Workshop support to let players muck about designing their own content for the game. To mark the launch of mod support, Snapshot have released their own ‘Custom Campaign’ on Steam, which allows for way more customisation in the game than was possible previously. They’ve also made all soldier skins free, including ones only available on console before, and added two new skins: Aztec Priest and Pandoran Technician....
Two months after announcing the voyage, Sea Of Thieves is welcoming Steam’s scoundrels to the seven seas with a new trailer - backed by what I’m generously starting to call “videogame trailer music”. You know the kind I mean. Sea Of Thieves, if you’re unfamiliar, is a proper brilliant little ocean sandbox. It’s not the deepest (hah!) game out there, but it’s a wonderful romp with the right friends - a luscious ocean packed with eerie wrecks, swashbuckling felines, and the occasional flying galleon....
“The update takes care of some nagging crashes related to older drivers and hardware, as well as various stability issues we have encountered,” Croteam communications man Daniel Lucic said in Friday’s announcement. “Overall, this update will make the game much more stable. It even helps out those on older Windows versions, which are still not supported but should be a bit more stable now.” The hotfix also fixed a few other bits, noted in that post, but didn’t do much for performance or other issues....
Details are thin for now. Expect guns, swords, magic, wisecracks, gore, and yes, a grappling hook. We’ll see more this weekend in the “gameplay trailer” promised for Devolver’s notE3 showcase, which is at 8pm on Saturday the 11th. Shadow Warrior 3 is due to launch in 2021. The first Shadow Warrior was released by 3D Realms in 1997, then Flying Wild Hog rebooted it in 2013 in a new form quite different to its Duke Nukem-y roots....
Having waded through an early preview build of its opening Forgotten Waters stage this week, this is one co-operative cannon fest that seems destined to see friends and family not so much walk the plank after an untimely defeat as get absolutely spanked by it. Imagine the visual chaos of a game like Overcooked combined with the frantic, tactile ship management of Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime and you’re pretty much there, albeit with several more barnacles, bug-spewing mosquitoes and laser-firing totem poles in the mix....
Modder ProfJack created the Projectile Sense mod out of frustration with the constant barrage of projectiles Dragonborn seem to attract. There’s also a bit of jealousy aimed at Skyrim’s bandits too, by the sound of it. “It’s funny that skyrim bandits all have this supernatural dodge ability when you’re shooting at them,” ProfJack says, “and your melee-only Dragonborn always had enough arrows on themselves to supply the whole Whiterun guardian forces....
Former Bethesda artist Nate Purkeypile took to Twitter this week to explain that, even in development, Skyrim’s opening cart ride was a bit of a menace. He said that, as the cart is physically simulated and on rails, there were all kinds of things that could cause it to “freak out”. From stray rocks to physics bugs, “the cart had a path it wanted to follow, but that doesn’t mean it was a path it COULD follow....
Much of the core of the original turn-based Master Of Magic from 28 years ago is still present and correct in the remake, just with a snazzier modern graphical presentation. You’ll still be picking from 14 different fantastical starter races ranging from the insectoid Klackon and scaly Lizardmen to Tolkienesque Halflings, Orcs and High Elves. There’s 14 unique wizards too, including OG sorcerous bad boy Merlin. One change to Master Of Magic that probably won’t bother anyone is alterations to some of the town names – no longer will you spot Birmingham and Coventry in the game’s two planes of Arcanus and Myrror....
It’s a compelling structure for a game, isn’t it? I want to level up my guy in fights, and level up my kingdom, and have it all feed into better tools with which to win more fights. It’s also another game that seems to be volumetrically lighting its pixel art, so it looks sumptuous. Whether it works in practice will depend a lot on its battles. You send troops into fights by first positioning them on the field, and then use their skills and magical abilities in tandem to defeat foes....
When I first saw the trailer today, I did think it had that telltale garbling of images put through a neural network - and not just the eyes blinking all over the bodies of some critters. Checking the monitoring devices placed around the RPS treehouse, what I actually said was “I quite like that it looks like it’s got fucked up by Google Deepmind?” Turns out, basically yes. Source Of Madness is an action-platformer travelling through procedurally-generated levels and using magic to zap procedurally-generated baddies....
Developer Rockfish Games are still hard at work ahead of the 1.0 launch. Everspace 2’s full release will add more of what we’re used to with extra enemies, customisation options, boss fights, and an all-new trading map. The more exciting additions are the new Companion and the fifth star system that will be ready for launch. 1.0 will also close out the sci-fi story, although Rockfish Games’ CEO, Micheal Schade, teased that launch wouldn’t be the end....
Imagine Nidhogg, cross it with Webbed, give it solid single player options, and throw in one of the sickest game soundtracks I’ve ever heard. I’d hoped Spiderheck would merely be as fun as it looks. It instead consumed me. Neverjam have united my love for Webbed with my love for chaos, and it’s more glorious than I dared to hope.
