They say the beta is “feature complete” though there’s still plenty of work to be done on it before it’s ready for its full release later this year. During the beta, players will get their first taste of the lowered level cap. It’s been brought down to 60 from 120 to make levelling up feel more “meaningful”. Makes sense to me, when level caps are too high it just feels like an absolute slog trying to reach it....

The first of these was a particularly lengthy animated “short” titled Afterlives: Bastion, with fan-fave paladin Uther catching himself in some mischief over in not-Valhalla. Then, however, Azeroth’s adventurers got what they’ve been waiting for since Shadowlands’ announcement almost a year ago. If, before, the series had flirted with committing to the role-playing genre, Like A Dragon is down on one knee proposing to the JRPG with happy tears in its eyes. And this relationship works, alright. Oh yes it does. After many, many years of cracking skulls, Kiryu Kazuma has passed the protagonist baton to Yakuza’s new kid on the block Ichiban Kasuga....

That’s been a big question from the start. A lot of time has passed since the original Baldur’s Gate games developed by BioWare and plenty of time has passed in the Forgotten Realms as well. Larian have hinted previously that we may spot familiar characters but the ways that Baldur’s Gate 3’s actual plot ties back to the earlier games isn’t yet being shared. It’s a decent time to jump into R6 Siege if you’d ever given it a thought. YouTube’s never really struggled with games, conceptually. Rough guess, there are probably seventeen trillion gaming youtube channels, and the top dogs aren’t struggling for views. Streaming, though? That’s never quite taken off for YouTube in the way it has for Twitch. Google hope that snagging exclusive rights to stream Actiblizzion’s flashiest esports events will help pull people over to YouTube. It’s the same move Microsoft pulled when they paid Fortnite virtuoso Ninja more money than god to play videogames on Mixer (even if I, like Alice Bee, don’t understand the appeal one bit)....

HZD is, hands down, my game of the last decade. My bestest of all bests, without a doubt. If Activision weren’t planning on cultivating a battle royale rumour-mill, they’ve done an awful job of it. That Season 2 of Modern Warfare arrived with a “confidential” menu item doesn’t even scratch the surface - VGC reports that players have found their way into a massive environment full of popular Call Of Duty locations, much like Black Ops 4’s own battle royale map. One of the more telling pieces of evidence was an image posted by Redditor Assyrian241O, claiming they “found this image online....

In each of Crucible’s game modes you’re dropped onto a hostile planet full of beasties you’ll need to kill to level up. This gives you more health and higher damage so you better fight against other players to achieve your objectives. Generally these objectives seem to revolve around collecting the planet’s resources before the enemy team (or teams) can beat you to it. Your objectives vary between the three game modes, too....

The Cartomancy Anthology is an ambitious and stylish collection of 22 games spanning different genres and art styles, tied together by the framing narrative of a virtual tarot reading determining which game you end up playing next. Fair to say that there’s a little bit of basically everything in the selection from cart racers to visual novels — I even caught a glimpse of a fishing mini-game in that new trailer, which I consider proof positive that a game has taken the kitchen sink approach to selecting its features....
