Activision have released a new game in the main series every year since 2005, started with Call Of Duty 2. The Twitch Rivals: SquidCraft Games tournament saw Spanish-language streamers competiting in a Minecraft mod based on the mega-popular Netflix murdergame series, Squid Game. It had a grand prize of $100,000 (£74k). A number of big-name streamers taking part are in Andorra, including AuronPlay, Rubius, and TheGrefg, and apparently all of Andorra’s Internet was slammed by unknown hackers to take them down. Andorra Telecom tweeted on Sunday that Internet service was down for some customers on Friday and Saturday following a series of distributed denial-of-service attacks aimed at disrupting ‘YouTubers’....

There’s a nice flow to a good racer, something Absolute Drift’s drum-and-bass powerslides demonstrated wonderfully....

While most of the webcast was pretty dry financial chat, Kumar did confirm that AMD’s Big Navi GPUs will be their “first RDNA 2-based product”, which suggests they’ll arrive on PC before the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X this Christmas. Kumar didn’t reveal an exact release date for AMD’s Big Navi cards, but the current rumour doing the rounds online is that it will be sometime this autumn, which is also the current rumour window for Nvidia’s RTX 3000 graphics cards....

How can the horror of a traditionally dark and dingy series hold up under the bright desert sun? I talked with game director Thomas Grip and creative lead Fredrik Olsson to find out. We also discussed monsters and things they’ve learned from their old games, as well as how player choice can make horror that much more horrifying. Straight away, Rebirth’s setting caught my eye. The devs say they’re removing the tech because “it’s inaccessible, lacks readability/counterplay, and is exacerbated by movement abilities.” It’s going away in patch 10.1, and they’ll have more details explaining why in its patch notes. To do a tap-strafe, players basically need to spam W (or whatever key you use to move forward) after doing a slide jump while trying to move to the left or right. This lets them keep the momentum from the slide and very quickly throw themselves 180 degrees, allowing them to leap unnaturally around corners, speedily close the gap on unsuspecting enemies, or essentially dodge bullets....
