That’s it. Kojima has been publicly talking about planning new things for a while, but I suppose this is formal, official confirmation that they’re staffing up for something. Would suggest they have a specific thing in mind. Hideo Kojima and artist Yoji Shinkawa did talk early this year about wanting to do one “big” game as well as maybe some smaller or episodic games. That’s only talk, mind. I’m not going to get caught up in divining from interviews and doodles....

Posting a long overdue update on Steam earlier today, McMillen called Bum-bo’s launch the messiest of his career. Unfortunately, the months that followed didn’t help matters much. So, apparently, Bum-bo launched in a bit of a state on release. But while McMillen and co planned to get a small piece of free DLC out the door as a sort of make-up gift, those plans were repeatedly foiled by a series of roadblocks - the first being co-creator James Interactive’s slide into deep depression, which left him unable to continue work on the game....

Get In The Car’s second expansion - The Fate Of Another World - picks up right after the base game’s ending, and clocking in at around 4-6 hours, it’s much larger than the game’s normal chapters. The Fate Of Another World adds two new party members and boss battles, five different enemy types, and an all-new progression system. The soundtrack has also been updated, both in battle and on the road - I’m glad the designated AUX cord-er is keeping their playlist fresh....

Of course, the question now becomes, how do we carry on this kind of momentum when literally nothing has a confirmed release date past the end of March? The answer is… complicated.

Eventually I decided on corn, a warm yellow to keep things light and breezy. To both my relief and, I think, the relief of the Carpet Man, it wasn’t grey. The shade that, for whatever reason, most people like to walk on. One that tires Carpet Man and reminds me of Lost Ark, an MMO that’s supremely popular for some reason. No matter how chic it may be right now, I can’t see it being a permanent fixture in my life....

Now, I’m not old enough to remember taking off from Meigs Field myself, but if you had an IBM PC and a copy of the original Microsoft Flight Simulator back in the day then I gather it was a very familiar sight. Meigs Field hasn’t been featured in a Flight Simulator game since Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. The Chicago runway was controversially demolished back in 2003, IRL. Game director Agnes Larsson said the change was part of the update’s aim of self-expression through representation. Mojang are attempting to “make Minecraft Minecraftier” with 1.20, focusing on the creative pillars of the game to inspire players’ creativity. They’ll be doing this through that typical Minecraft update feature: more stuff. This time, though, some of it is intended to represent cultures beyond North America and Europe. Mojang highlighted the new bamboo wood set and camel as representative of areas of the real-world that haven’t been well-served by the game up to now....

But man alive. Those OPINIONS. Just terrible. Bad, awful, narrow-minded. In some ways it’s quite funny looking back at how angry I was about Nintendo putting trains in a Zelda game, for example (joke’s on me, Spirit Tracks would go on to become one of my fav Zelda games of all time), but in many ways I’m just quite glad I’ve (hopefully) moved on as a person, if only because recent weeks have reminded me there are still plenty of people out there like late 00s Katharine who are in all likelihood the same age I am now....
