Kojima Productions Confirm They Re Working On A New Project

That’s it. Kojima has been publicly talking about planning new things for a while, but I suppose this is formal, official confirmation that they’re staffing up for something. Would suggest they have a specific thing in mind. Hideo Kojima and artist Yoji Shinkawa did talk early this year about wanting to do one “big” game as well as maybe some smaller or episodic games. That’s only talk, mind. I’m not going to get caught up in divining from interviews and doodles....

Larian Studios Have Snatched Up A New Studio In Barcelona

“BlitWorks’ story with Larian goes way back. After porting most of the best indie games to console, we were challenged to port Divinity: Original Sin 2 to Nintendo Switch and without knowing, that was the start of a long-lasting relationship,” says BlitWorks co-founder Tony Cabello. “No need to say fitting DOS2 on Nintendo Switch was one of the most difficult projects we’ve ever done, but working with Larian was simple and straightforward, we felt at home....

Latest Dwarf Fortress Video Highlights New Art And Menus By Taking The Bins Out

I frequently forget to take the bins out before bin day, and I’m frequently too lazy to do it even when I do remember. Zach’s dwarves have an advantage: a minecart sytem which can carry objects from the upper floors of his fort down towards the waste-disposing magma level. The video above follows that journey, showing underground biomes filled with giant mushrooms along the way. Dwarf Fortress developers Zach and Tarn Adams resisted adding any kind of polish to their game for over a decade, because they didn’t want the need to make sprites to slow down development on new features....

Legacy Of Kain Devs Crystal Dynamics Seek Opinions About New Games In The Series

Crystal Dynamics have come up with a pretty in-depth questionnaire about how players feel towards the Legacy Of Kain series. It covers what you think matters in the games themselves, who the better protagonist is out of Kain and Raziel, and what the world of Nosgoth should be like. The studio also seem to be testing the waters around vampire games in general, asking a whole bunch of questions about what makes a good one....

Legend Of Bum Bo S Free Dlc Is Back On Track

Posting a long overdue update on Steam earlier today, McMillen called Bum-bo’s launch the messiest of his career. Unfortunately, the months that followed didn’t help matters much. So, apparently, Bum-bo launched in a bit of a state on release. But while McMillen and co planned to get a small piece of free DLC out the door as a sort of make-up gift, those plans were repeatedly foiled by a series of roadblocks - the first being co-creator James Interactive’s slide into deep depression, which left him unable to continue work on the game....

Lesbian Road Trip Rpg Get In The Car Loser Releases Its Second Expansion

Get In The Car’s second expansion - The Fate Of Another World - picks up right after the base game’s ending, and clocking in at around 4-6 hours, it’s much larger than the game’s normal chapters. The Fate Of Another World adds two new party members and boss battles, five different enemy types, and an all-new progression system. The soundtrack has also been updated, both in battle and on the road - I’m glad the designated AUX cord-er is keeping their playlist fresh....

Letter From The Editor 07 Looking Forwards By Looking Back

Of course, the question now becomes, how do we carry on this kind of momentum when literally nothing has a confirmed release date past the end of March? The answer is… complicated.

Lost Ark Is The Mmo Equivalent Of Grey Carpet

Eventually I decided on corn, a warm yellow to keep things light and breezy. To both my relief and, I think, the relief of the Carpet Man, it wasn’t grey. The shade that, for whatever reason, most people like to walk on. One that tires Carpet Man and reminds me of Lost Ark, an MMO that’s supremely popular for some reason. No matter how chic it may be right now, I can’t see it being a permanent fixture in my life....

Lost Ark Knowledge Transfer

It’s now been confirmed that Knowledge Transfer will be available from launch in the European and North American release of Lost Ark in February 2022, and that you’ll be paying in-game currency rather than real money for the privilege of level skipping in this fashion. What is Knowledge Transfer in Lost Ark? Knowledge Transfer in Lost Ark is a method of levelling up your alts without grinding or paying real-world money for the privilege....

Mass Effect 3 Remaster Swaps Out Tali S Stock Photo Face

For context, Tali’Zorah is a quarian: a race of humanoid aliens that never take off their special space suits (because they have terrible immune systems). That picture of her on your desk is the only one of her face you’ll ever see, which is why it was so disappointing that the original image looked like this: It’s an edited version of this stock photo and there’s just so much wrong with it....

Microsoft Flight Simulator Hosts Community Fly In For 40Th Anniversary

Now, I’m not old enough to remember taking off from Meigs Field myself, but if you had an IBM PC and a copy of the original Microsoft Flight Simulator back in the day then I gather it was a very familiar sight. Meigs Field hasn’t been featured in a Flight Simulator game since Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. The Chicago runway was controversially demolished back in 2003, IRL. Today’s community fly-in event is open to anyone who wants to commemorate the airport, added back into the game with today’s 40th Anniversary Update....

Microsoft S App Store Principles Take A Big Jab At Apple

These are nice and good principles to stick to, yes. But the entire post doesn’t seem as though it’s really to assure devs, so much as it is to make very clear whose side they’re on in the whole Apple vs Epic debacle. If you’ve somehow missed these mega corporations throwing hissy fits at each other, this all started when Epic tried to circumvent Apple’s app store payment system by putting their own system inside the Fortnite app....

Minecraft S 1 20 Update Brings Seven Mysterious New Player Skins In 2023

Game director Agnes Larsson said the change was part of the update’s aim of self-expression through representation. Mojang are attempting to “make Minecraft Minecraftier” with 1.20, focusing on the creative pillars of the game to inspire players’ creativity. They’ll be doing this through that typical Minecraft update feature: more stuff. This time, though, some of it is intended to represent cultures beyond North America and Europe. Mojang highlighted the new bamboo wood set and camel as representative of areas of the real-world that haven’t been well-served by the game up to now....

Mixed Results For League S Client Cleanup Campaign

“The client is not in great shape,” Riot conceded in March when they announced the Client Cleanup Campaign. “It’s got too many bugs, too much lag (especially in champ select), and a whole host of issues like memory leaks, crashes, freezes, and on and on. We’ve made commitments to do something about the client before, and yet problems remain.” That’s a quiet nod to earlier attention-grabbing attempts like the Client Strike Team, a group announced in 2017, who evidently failed....

Modders Are Fixing The Gta Trilogy From Better Rain To Nut Shaped Nuts

I want to talk about that one first, specifically, because it’s hilarious. The developers smoothed out the nut. Why did they smooth out the nut? Have they never seen a nut? Were they in such a rush that they did not realise the round thing they were making too round was, in fact, a nut? It seems like this was an accident, albeit one that you’d think someone would’ve noticed internally....

Movie Video Games The Steam Quiz

Loads of people are missing their cinema fix at the minute, so we decided to celebrate film in this week’s Mystery Steam Reviews. It’s Mystery Steam Reviews: The Movie: The Game: The Quiz. One of more simpler ones: both of us had to choose three games that were based on pre-existing movie franchises. No controversy this week, either, which is nice. My Livejournal Turned 18 This Week And Man Alive Baby Katharine Had Some Terrible Video Game Opinions

But man alive. Those OPINIONS. Just terrible. Bad, awful, narrow-minded. In some ways it’s quite funny looking back at how angry I was about Nintendo putting trains in a Zelda game, for example (joke’s on me, Spirit Tracks would go on to become one of my fav Zelda games of all time), but in many ways I’m just quite glad I’ve (hopefully) moved on as a person, if only because recent weeks have reminded me there are still plenty of people out there like late 00s Katharine who are in all likelihood the same age I am now....
