Preview Beyond A Steel Sky Is Looking Good But Needs Work

Beyond A Steel Sky is set in a sort of Mad-Max-meets-cyberpunk dystopian mash-up from Charles “Broken Sword” Cecil, and famous comics artist Dave “Watchmen” Gibbons. The game’s traditionally rubbish, genre staple name is actually a hangover from the game to which this is a sequel, Beneath A Steel Sky, where gruff everyman Robert Foster and his AI robot pal Joey freed a city-state from the clutches of its evil AI overlord....

Even a downed defender can manually trigger the Kona Station to revive themselves prior to death....

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Shadow Legacy Just Arrived Without Warning

It’d be rather silly to expect the Sam Fisher season to arrive without shooting out all the lights and cameras, wouldn’t it? Still, getting a 14GB update past the guards is no easy feat. So! Now it’s here, Shadow Legacy lets us get back in the impractical goggles of Sam Fisher (sorry, “Zero”), in lieu of his series being on seemingly-indefinite hiatus. As usual, ol’ Fisher comes with a new stash of gadgets to play around with, chief among these being tiny spy cameras that can zap opponents with an irritating laser....

Rps Time Capsule The Games Worth Saving From 2006

As per usual, we’re going by the year of a game’s PC release here, not when it came out on consoles, and it’s this particular version of the game we’re preserving, too. That’s why some games might be absent from their original release year, as they may have received a shiny HD remake or remaster in subsequent years we’d want to save instead (needless to say, our Time Capsule is not bound by what is and isn’t available to physically buy in this day and age - it’s the sentiment that counts)....

Runeterra Keywords Guide Definitions Of All The Abilities

Legends of Runeterra keywords guide Keywords in Runeterra are single word terms that appear on cards. Some indicate the speed at which a spell is cast, while others grant that unit an ability to use in battle, or when an ability is triggered. Our Runeterra keywords guide will go over all of them, including the new ones introduced during the full game release, explaining what they do and detail any interesting interactions that you should be aware of....

Running Dos Off A Vinyl Record Is Wildly Hip

“So this nutty little experiment connects a PC, or an IBM PC to be exact, directly onto a record player through an amplifier,” Bogin explains in his blog post. “There is a small ROM boot loader that operates the built-in ‘cassette interface’ of the PC (that was hardly ever used), invoked by the BIOS if all the other boot options fail, i.e. floppy disk and the hard drive. The turntable spins an analog recording of a small bootable read-only RAM drive, which is 64K in size....

Rusty Lake Returns With An Ambitious Co Op Puzzle Game The Past Within

The trailer below is an atmospheric but sparse affair, but thankfully the Rusty Lake site has an update on what to expect: “Teaming up with a friend, travel through both past and future to piece together the mysteries surrounding Albert Vanderboom. Communicate what you see around you to help one another solve various puzzles and explore the worlds from different perspectives!” Ah, the old, “What can you see?” ploy. I remember it well from my days as an amateur bomb disposal expert....

S T A L K E R 2 S Release Has Understandably Been Pushed To 2023

GSC Game World tweeted a video dev diary showing footage from the destructive Russian strikes on Kyiv, some of which reached within a mile of the company’s offices. The video highlights the daily struggles of the developers, whether they were able to evacuate from Kyiv or were trapped in their homes. Some appear to have been working on the game under very compromised and dangerous circumstances. Other staff have joined the Ukrainian armed forces or volunteered in other ways....

Satisfactory Churns Out A Steam Release For June

If you happen to be counting months, Satisfactory was originally released in March of 2019, trending past the usual year of Epic Store exclusivity that has most other games making an immediate Steam release. “I know it’s been frustrating that we haven’t been able to announce an official date until now (believe me, It’s been frustrating for us as well),” say Coffee Stain in a new post. “But we’re here now and we’re definitely releasing it Monday, June 8 and we’re super stoked about that!...

Screenshot Saturday Mondays A Hometown Hero Returns

Our former Screenshot Saturday Sunday writer Nat (who inherited the column from Jay Castello) recently escaped games blogging to become a level designer on A Highland Song (coming to Steam), the next game from 80 Days and Heaven’s Vault studio Inkle. Hallo again, Nat! Some cracking Dark Messiah Of Might & Magic-esque kick-o-trap physics tomfoolery from Perish (headed to Steam): I don’t believe this cool posing reflects how side-scrolling mecha shoot ’em up Valfaris: Mecha Therion (headed to Steam) plays, but it is cool: As much as I try not to post the same games over and over, The Office (final name TBC) continues to look cool and I can’t help myself: Likewise, I’ve posted occult internet streaming sim darkwebSTREAMER before, but I can’t resist when a bug becomes a feature: Cool anime violence from VR mecha game Bakemono - Demon Brigade Tenmen Unit 01 (available on Steam Early Access): Elsewhere in space, a pleasing power core in explore-o-puzzler Lunar Soil (coming to Steam): I recently went to a William Morris wallpaper exhibition and was delighted by how much a shift in colours changed a print, so I am enjoying this in crimescene-investigating adventure game Forest Grove (coming to Steam): All I ever see from No More Flat Days is a boatman spinning and flipping about while being swarmed by fish, and I’m okay with that: Scrap vehicles in Command & Conquer-esque real-time strategy game Dorf RTS (a working title): I’m very interested in Venba (coming to Steam), a “narrative cooking game” starring an Indian mum who immigrates to 1980s Canada with her family: And finally, some flashy violence from boss rush action-platformer Gurei: What else caught your eye this weekend, reader dear?...

Manage cookie settings — Polygon Treehouse (@PolyTreehouse) February 22, 2020 I’ve seen Röki kicking about for a while, though it’s usually framed more intimately. Up-close shots of the main character’s delightfully expressive animations and the like. Headed up by former Guerrilla Games art directors Tom Jones and Alex Kanaris-Sotiriou, developers Polygon Treehouse have managed to create some stunning nordic landscapes for their adventure through Scandinavian folklore....

Screenshot Secrets Photographing Stripes The Family Cat In Morrowind

The story behind Stripes the cat coming to Morrowind is lovely but that story is more interesting than the actual mod, and it’s all contained the mod’s readme file. Great for me as an avid readme reader, less exciting for website readers. And the mod’s download page has only a single muddy screenshot to show. So off I go to play the mod for myself, and take a screenshot and video to give you a better look at Stripes....

See More Drone Bees In This Gameplay Teaser For Atomic Heart

It’s a quick reel mostly of the mechanical baddies you’ll find out in the wild. Huge drillsnakes rotate overhead. The large frog thing with a buzzsaw on its face takes a leap at the player for a nice, weighty-looking attack. Some other giant, spherical creature vaults around a lab indoors. I’ve run out of synonyms for “big.” They’re all healthy-sized horrors, alright? Then there’s those bee drones we heard about yesterday as well....

See Salt And Sacrifice S Giant Mage Boss Get Cut Down To Size

A quick recap: in Salt And Sacrifice you’re a Marked Inquisitor hunting down mages. They summon all the bad guys that pollute the levels. You’re there to cut everything into little chunks until you make it to the boss. One of definitions of a soulslike is that the player works things out as they go, and so this footage doesn’t make it easy for the watcher to follow along. It’s a collection of moments as far as I can tell, but it’s probably a decent representation of the fraught nature of exploring....

Shenmue 3 Hits Steam Today

Shenmue 3 originally came out on this very day last year, four years after a fruitful Kickstarter campaign that saw developers Ys Net raise $6 million. It follows on from the story of Shenmue 2 (which came out a whole 19 years ago), with Ryu hanging out in rural China looking for the baddies who murdered his dad - and playing load of odd minigames on the way. In his Shenmue 3 review, Matthew says the game can be a bit boring, but somehow that only manages to add to its charm: “The mad thing is, for all its creaky ideas and garlic guzzling, I was enraptured for chunks of Shenmue 3....

Skyrim Modders Already Working To Fix Mods The Anniversary Edition Broke

That modder is “extrwi”, who works on the Skryim Script Extender (SKSE). This tool doesn’t do anything fancy in itself but does let other people make mods which change more of the game than the official tools allow. Many mods require SKSE, including near-mandatory ones like SkyUI. Thankfully, extrwi has already managed to release a preliminary build with support for the Anniversary Edition update. “In an attempt to avert the part of the modpocalpyse that I can control, I’ve been spending all of my free time for the last week and a half or so getting this ready, and just made it about an hour before the update was pushed,” they said on Reddit in the wee hours....

Sony Will Explore Bringing More Exclusives To Pc

The new statement is tucked away in Sony’s 2020 Corporate Report where they use some of my favorite corpo words like “IP” and “synergy” to explain their plans for the future of game series and game studios they own. Sony first say that they’re angling for more active users on PlayStation, but also concede there’s growth to be had off the platform. “We will explore expanding our first party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability,” they say....

Spelunky 2 Daily Today Was Always Going To Go Badly

Today’s apology: I’m posting this a day late, because for some reason the post didn’t go live when I hit publish. Hooray. Expect another video along later tonight. Today’s second apology: I’m still experimenting with how I’m recording these, and there’s still work to be done on audio quality. However! Check out the new lovely graphics. Vidbud Colm made the series its own logo, which is going to make it much harder to lose interest in doing it in two days time and just quietly stop....
