While this commentary doesn’t really reveal anything new, it does confirm that these Eternals, the characters shown in the trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase, are indeed player characters. It also has a few more teeny tiny hints at what we’ll be getting up to as these Eternals. But first, look at this excellent bat: During the trailer, we see this bat-like bird swoop down and take some food being offered to it by one of the Eternals, and it’s one of the first examples of the “symbiotic relationships” with nature that the game seems to be focussing on....

In an interview with Gamestar, design director Scott Butchard alludes to the kind of things players can expect in the next wild west update. The interview is originally in German, so I’m leaning on Google’s estimation of Butchard’s comments, but it seems a relatively safe bet that Rockstar are planning some new Bounty Hunter content. “The players won’t have to wait too long for a more action-oriented update,” Butchard says....

The new Village trailer has appearances from everyone’s favourite giant woman, Lady Dimitrescu (who is about as tall as three emperor penguins stood on each others shoulders), as well as a sinister-looking Chris Redfield. It also shows some angry werewolves, and poor Eef being bullied a whole lot. You’ll be able to visit the Village and Castle areas of the game a little early during a 60-minute demo that’ll be available for 24 hours from May 1st at 5pm PT (May 2nd at 1am for us in the UK)....

Speaking to IGN on the studio’s tenth anniversary, Zampella explained that there is “nothing currently in development” for the Blomkamp-adjacent giant robot shooter. But even if it does live on in ways through mech-free follow-up Apex Legends, there’s certainly interest “I would personally like to see some kind of resurrection there. We’ll see if I can make that happen.” Besides Apex, though, it’s been four years since we saw a proper Respawn Mech ’em up in Titanfall 2....

The SteamDB listing does not have “Returnal” written on it, but it includes several references to elements from the game and its fiction, including its Tower Of Sisyphus DLC, its protagonist’s ship “Helios” and the planet Atropos. Returnal is a third-person shooter roguelike starring a time-looping protagonist battling gribblies on an alien planet. It released as a PlayStation 5 launch game and received broadly positive reviews, while being noted for its difficulty....

US denizens aren’t missing out either, as the G502 SE Hero is $33 at Best Buy in their own Black Friday sale. That’s not quite as cheap as its all-time low of $28, but its still a very good price on a very good mouse. The G502 SE Hero is essentially the classic G502 Hero with some white go-faster stripes – there’s been no funny business making adverse changes to keep the costs down....

Today’s Russian Fishing 4 patch fixes a bug in which you could place an entire wheel of cheese on your hook, harking back to that golden age in which man held total dominion over beast, and could deposit entire units of groceries into their homes without scrutiny. A baguette in an estuary. A cheese in a lagoon. A ham in a pond. An egg in a fjord. This is a free to play fishing simulator with microtransactions and RPG-style survival elements....

On your bike, then. To nab your first fishing rod you’ll need to head back to Sansee, where “a fabled angler known as Yoshi” has just set up shop. Catch enough fish for them and they’ll hand over the Angler Mask, which is how people gatekeep access to professions in Sable’s world. Fishing takes place in its own new mini-game, which the update notes don’t describe but I’d presume plays like all the other videogame fishing mini-games....

There are a few shortcomings, admittedly. In its £1279 build, for example, it only has 8GB of RAM and a 240GB SSD. Ideally, you’ll probably want to bump the RAM up to 16GB, and maybe add another SSD or HDD to the mix if you don’t have spare ones already. Happily, this build is fully configurable so you can do exactly that to get the PC you want. Adding more RAM only adds another £35 or so on its price, while a bigger SSD will cost at least another £18 depending on the model you go for....

Enter Signs Of The Sojourner, a deck-building card game with a story about growing up and outgrowing home, where the cards you play stand in for conversations. This game: it’s a funny old language, innit? You, unnamed protagonist with what look like cat ears, live in a world maybe a step removed from our own, where travel is treacherous and goods and people are moved in a caravan that loops around once a month(ish)....

Sure, it’s been over seven years since the team at The Elder Scrolls Renewal Project began work on their massive Morrowind overhaul. But that’s no reason to give up hope - after all, Black Mesa spent over twice that time in development and somehow, miraculously, came out this year. Our 15-minute demo picks up in the bowels of a ship outside the city of Sadrith Mora. From there, we get a brief tour of Morrowind’s overworld - foggy and fungal as ever - before picking up a companion in the form of Larienna Macrina....

Morbid Metal is, like most games these days, set in a post-human future. You fight “hordes of deadly machines” against a backdrop of the ruins of humanity, that ruin being in a distant enough past that nature has started to reclaim things. Robots, of course, are harder to grow over, especially when they’re running about so much. Each of the characters you can turn into has their own moveset and special skill to deal out swift metal justice....

I like Dead Space and I will watch that Dead Space remake stream today, but I can play Dead Space just fine today. Mavis Beacon’s penguin platformer? That’s ancient, mate. It’s a classic too, doubtless the first PC gaming experience for many people over the past 24 years. And yet publishers are spending squillions of dollars on giving characters HD haircuts. Shameful. While it was good to see typing games resurrected with Typing Of The Dead: Overkill, what I need is a fancy modern remake of the Penguin Crossing minigame from Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 8....

At first I thought they might be removing some evil needles from the airborne monster’s back, but after getting rid of those metal devices they proceeded to the creature’s head and gave it an almighty stomp. The trailer cuts off shortly after that, so I don’t know, maybe it could be friendly? Solar Ash is a follow-up to Hyper Light Drifter, made by developers Heart Machine. It has a similar look and vibe to its predecessor, what with all that skating, but is in 3D this time, rather than 2D....

Game studios, especially those the size of Rare, don’t make a habit of posting screenshots from early development. Sharing your signature dish before it’s cooked is a risk, making this a rare treat. A Rare treat, even. It’s a real testament to the fact that almost all games start in the same raw place. Even the most beautiful 3D adventure games start life as prototypes whose characters are just shaded grey capsules with a simple collision collider thrown on them....

That’s the new trailer hot off IGN’s Summer Of Gaming notE3 stream today. I’m no expert on E3 or notE3 (I never would have predicted cars descending from the ceiling) but I do think this sells the game short. It barely hints at what makes Dual Universe interesting: a giant sandbox world where you can build space stations, building giant factories on planets to feed the player-affected economy, programming systems on your creations, and all sorts of other things that I might have thought impractically ambitious a few years back....
