A report on The Washington Post by Nathan Grayson (RPS in peace) speaks to several anonymous Twitch staffers, who said that the list is around five years out of date. Twitch have since moved to a new system for managing streamers. Even at the time, however, it wasn’t as simple as a list of streamers who could do whatever they wanted without risking a ban. Instead, the list was used to provide guidance to the ground level moderation team on what to do when they received user reports about certain streamers....

Things that are happening though, is the return of The RPS 100, which you may have seen us post about earlier in the week. This is our annual countdown of our favourite PC games of all time, as voted for by the RPS Treehouse. This year’s list is quite different to the one we did last year - we do, after all, have pretty much a brand-new team in place now - and I’m looking forward to sharing that with you all next week....

On Tuesday, Apex tweeted this gif: Now, this image isn’t completely new info. The text on that futuristic iPad there was actually released before Revenant came to the game, to set up why they decided to put the murder robot in the arena. The post-it notes, however, tell a new story. It looks like someone is investigating the murderous robot to figure out a way to hack him, likely in revenge for one of his assassinations....

An earlier tweet from the Lost Ark account said that as compensation for the delays they “will add 3 days of Crystalline Aura to all players who log in to the game between launch and 9 AM PT [5 PM UTC] on 2/13 as a small thank you.” It’ll be on Steam when it is, y’know, actually out. The Madness series was peak Newgrounds, with extreme violence, basic animation and just as basic humour. To give you a very quick sense of its tone: one of its antagonists is Jesus. Madness: Project Nexus is at least more polished. It’s a run ’n’ gun brawler, playable in co-op, in which you smash through arenas by fighting giants, assassins and government agents using melee attacks and many, many weapons. There’s a story campaign you can play with up to three people, in which you “infiltrate heavily guarded installations, survive cultist-ridden tunnel networks, fight back against dynamite-wielding cannibal bandits, and dodge the grasp of armor-plated Mag Agents over three times your size....

So far, Crystal Dynamics say they’ve already added a few new mission types: Mega Hives and Tachyon Missions along with a new outpost called Shield Substation Zero. They’ve been working on features requested by players as well. Prior patch 1.3.3 increased the radius at which loot will be drawl to your hero, among other things. For the future, CD outline several more changes, including a ping system to mark objectives, resources, and other important items for ordering your AI companions to prioritise certain tasks....

As well as overall enhancements to the entire trilogy - better textures, lighting, audio improvements and 4K support, to name a few - the Legendary Edition’s biggest changes revolve around Mass Effect 1. Combat should be a lot smoother with better accuracy, ADS and weapon cooldowns, you can now control squadmates individually too, and the Mako no longer handles like a tortoise on crack (though you can revert to the old Mako settings, if you’re up for the challenge)....

“We are currently working on renewing the licenses for select historical archive footage used in-game, therefore, we have made the temporary decision to begin suspending the sale of METAL GEAR SOLID 2, METAL GEAR SOLID 3 and all products that include these games from digital storefronts globally starting from November 8th, 2021,” Konami said in Sunday’s announcement. “We sincerely ask for your patience and understanding as we work towards making these products available for purchase once again....

Developers 4A Games have made it available as part of the series’ 10-year anniversary, alongside deep discounts on the rest of the series. Last year’s Metro Exodus, the third game in the series, is 66% off at £11.89. Note that what’s being offered for free here is the original 2010 release of the game, which while patched, is not as polished as the Metro 2033 Redux version released in 2014....

While MS Flight Sim does populate the skies with some of the real planes actually out there, it doesn’t do the same with ships. Thankfully, modder “FlyBoyRez1” released the Suez Traffic Jam mod on Sunday (inspired by a simpler mod). Along with the Ever Given wedged in there, it adds tug boats trying to free it, other ships backed up around up, and even (if you have another mod installed) diggers poised to dig on the bank....

Spencer wrote that he was “disturbed and deeply troubled by the horrific events and actions” described by the report, which included detailed allegations of sexual harassment within Activision Blizzard, as well as allegations against Kotick himself including that he threatened to kill an employee. “This type of behaviour has no place in our industry,” wrote Spencer. This email comes after PlayStation head Jim Ryan wrote a similar email to staff which criticised Activision’s response to the revelations of misconduct within the company....

I haven’t been this excited about a deckbuilder since the Spire itself. Which is great, because it’s out right now. Like the Spire, you’re up against a series of fights where you get the chance to improve your deck between every battle. Each encounter, enemies board your train and try to work their way upwards. You’ve got to stop them by casting spells and popping down defenders. If your defenders don’t kill the enemies on their level, then those enemies move up - and if they reach the top, they do some damage to your engine before being burnt to pieces by it....

Bannerlord finally entered early access this week. By all accounts, it’s a brilliant successor to the sandbox RPG. But it launched in one hell of a state. Even as the sequel offered glimpses of something great, Sin decided to postpone her Bannerlord review until the game sorts out its dreadful performance problems. To their credit, TaleWords are on the right track. A release-day hotfix was followed by a patch on April 1st, fixing a host of soft-locks, crashes and infinite loading issues....

I had hoped to have some basic impressions ready last night, but that wasn’t possible, because whatever else I can say about this open world medieval(ish) combat RPG, it’s completely overshadowed by technical problems. This isn’t a review, because to review it in this state would short change both its developers, Taleworlds, and everyone reading. Crucially, Bannerlord went into early access yesterday, not a final release. And every game ever made had at least something that needed fixing up....

It’s no secret that, since Bannerlord’s early access debut, TaleWorlds have been rushing to fix critical errors with patch after patch. To get ahead of the curve, Bannerlord’s devs revealed plans to introduce a more structured approach to testing in an update posted this weekend. The alpha branch intends to be “as close to development as possible”, testing new features as they happen with absolutely no guarantee of stability. You’ll get to toy around with new ideas daily, but expect to crash constantly....
