Teardown Launches Out Of Early Access This Month

An early access update completed Teardown’s campaign back in December, so I’m not sure what to expect from the full launch. The devs haven’t really said. But they have released a new update today with additions including a shooting range and skeet machine for target practice, new topiary, a summertime sandbox version of Cullington, and new particle effects: Pretty particles, those. Now I’m even more keen to make a big stinking mess with my clumsy heisting....

Telling Lies Developer Teasing New Project Ambrosio

Designer and director Sam Barlow announced the new project today on the fifth anniversary of Her Story’s release. He’s certainly gone all out on the secrecy for this one, redacting even the name to “Project A███████”. Some folks have already spotted the full name, if that is its real name, that is. You can find it listed as “Project Ambrosio” on SteamDB. Aside from that though, there are precious few words to actually go on....

Temtem Adding 50 New Critters And Two Islands This Year

As you can see from the roadmap below, the stuff Crema want to introduce this spring includes some new social features, ranked matchmaking and a spectator mode. In summer and autumn there are plans for two new islands, 50 new Temtem (Temtems? Is Temtem singular and plural? Like sheep?), player housing and a quest diary, so all those pesky quests have somewhere to organise themselves. For all you competitive Temtem Tamers, the developers are introducing auto-scaling into ranked matches....

Terraria Has Added Steam Workshop Support For Easier Modding

Terraria’s Steam Workshop offers worlds, texture packs, music packs, and language packs. So you can give things new looks and sounds, play it with new words, or just go see what other people have made. I am seeing: lots of golf courses. Texture packs might be more varied than you think, mind. Along with reskins of lots of monsters and weapons and new world textures and such, people do use this to tweak the UI with new fonts and styles and things....

The 8 Creepiest Villages In Pc Games

Yaughton - Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture The first abandoned village on our list. This will be a theme, because emptiness is unsettling (it’s also handy for developers who don’t have time to make a bunch of NPCs). A completely vacant village is doubly unnerving when everything looks picturesque and summery. In this game, it’s a beautiful day in rural Britain. People should be out and about. They should be having flower shows, they should be sitting in a park with a disposable barbeque, their skin turning the same shade of suspicious pink as the burgers sizzling over the coal....

The Ascent S First Patch Brings Ray Tracing To Xbox Game Pass

A good deal of the appeal of The Ascent is how pretty it is. It shines and glimmers, and its angled camera will pan to reveal gorgeous cybervistas. It’s a game where it might be worth caring about ray tracing, then. At launch, DLSS and ray tracing was available on PC via Steam but was absent from the Xbox Game Pass version. That’s fixed now. As the patch notes explain, the update should also address issues affecting co-op players, including crashes, controller issues on menus, and weapon replication bugs, among many other fixes....

The Batman Arkham Subreddit Has Decreed That Batman Arkham World Exists And Is Cool

The person who kicked it off appears to be u/FrozeninIce248, who declared that the sub should take a leaf out of the Titanfall subreddit and then did. They posted commemorating the anniversary of Arkham World’s release, asking for “this sub’s opinion on the game”. “I loved the open world in this game the most,” they said, “because it was a literal world”. And boy did the sub respond. Since then there have been a lot of posts, all expanding the Arkham World lore in both the content of the original post itself and the discussion in threads beneath it....

The Best Game You Missed In February 2020 Dreadout 2

In the Indonesian horror game DreadOut 2, these spectres are known as kuntilanak (as they’re referred to in Indonesia). These long-haired, howling spooks are every bit as vicious and frightful as I had imagined them to be, and plenty more such Indonesian ghosts lurk in the city you’ll spend the bulk of your time in in DreadOut 2. As the sequel to the original DreadOut from 2014, DreadOut 2 still leans heavily on the “kill ghosts with camera” schtick that’s heavily inspired by seminal J-horror series Fatal Frame....

The Electronic Wireless Show Podcast Episode 156 The Best Doctors In Games Special

We discuss our favourite game medical types, and also discuss why doctors in games are so often evil baddies. The saga of Matthew and his teeth continues, as well as envisioning Matthew as a clown who just turns up to your kids birthday party smeared in his wife’s lipstick, drinks all your Fanta, and leaves again. Now that’s malpractice. You can listen above, or on on Spotify, iTunes, Stitcher, or Pocket Casts....

The Entire Kingdom Hearts Series Is Out Now On Pc Via The Epic Games Store

It’s in this spirit that the Kingdom Hearts series seems to have been made: lure in children with the promise of Olaf from Frozen and other beloved Disney and Pixar characters, but then make them work for those appearances by having them sit through dozens of hours of spiky-haired JRPG characters with too many belts and zips. The Kingdom Hearts series is out on PC now via the Epic Games Store - and it costs too much, too....

The Subnautica Devs Are Doing A Turn Based Space Pirates Tabletop Miniatures Game Called Moonbreaker

I admit it was a trick question, but look, I’m a genuinely big fan of devs doing a completely different project after a successful game. I also know a whole lotta people who love painting plastic fighters in cool colours, carefuly placing them on a tabletop, and slowly pushing them into other plastic fighters in different colours. I’m absolutely sure that Unknown Worlds will make a very good version of a digital tabletop strategy game....
