OK, “unreliable narrator” and “Rashomon effect” are fair enough, although let’s be honest, not exactly in the most sophisticated way. Bertolt doesn’t need to worry himself. But perhaps somewhat more importantly, Gunslinger (and we’ll call it that, because the closest the game gets to Juarez is an aside in a conversation - that’s quite the call) is just a tremendous amount of fun, in one of the most visually pleasing games I’ve played....

Here’s a teaser trailer: Crysis 2 threw away much of what I thought was exciting about the original Crysis, trading wide corridor level design for more narrow and scripted experience inspired by Call Of Duty. Crysis 3 then followed in Crysis 2’s nanofootsteps, again taking place in New York, albeit one transformed into a rainforest and covered by a giant nanodome. It still didn’t have the destructible huts and suit energy balancing of the original, however, so still felt inferior to me....

Crytek say Crysis Remastered is coming this summer with “high-quality textures and improved art assets, an HD texture pack, temporal anti-aliasing, SSDO, SVOGI, state-of-the-art depth fields, new light settings, motion blur, and parallax occlusion mapping.” Nibel on Twitter managed to snatch the art before it was taken down, and I can confirm seeing the logo on the official site before everything was restored. There was also an official description, which revealed that “Crysis Remastered brings new graphic features, high-quality textures, and the CRYENGINE’s native hardware - and API-agnostic ray tracing solution for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and - for the very first time - Nintendo Switch....

FromSoft made the announcement on Dark Souls 3’s Steam Events page, and on Twitter, apologising for the long wait. It’s been seven months since the RCE security exploit, which Ed reported on back then, was discovered. The vulnerability acted like a back door into players computers, which is obviously a Very Bad Thing indeed. It affected all the Dark Souls games, but just on PC. Console players were safe. Thankfully, the exploit was discovered by someone who decided to raise the alarm rather than take advantage of the situation....

Here’s a description of the game, tweeted before the information was removed: Dead Island 2 has already died and been resurrected. The original developers on the project were Spec Ops: The Line’s Yager. They were unceremoniously dropped from its development by publishers Deep Silver in July 2015, just a year after Dead Island 2 was announced. Nottingham-based Deep Silver Dambuster Studios, formerly Free Radical and Crytek UK, are now in charge....

Last night’s Devolver show delighted me more than every trailer so far this week put together, quite frankly. It was a brilliant bit of cinema, and an unexpectedly sharp note of satire, too. How long is Dying Light 2? Dying Light 2’s story takes place over 22 main quests. They’re all fairly hefty missions with multiple parts, so even though it may not sound like much, those 22 missions will keep you going for a while - I’d say it should take 30 hours or more for most players. There’s already several creative ways to bother people online while playing Elden Ring, but as Ed points out, cosplaying Thanos was one of the more destructive ways. There was an exploit that hackers could use where they could teleport you to a void, trap you in an infinite death loop, and completely torpedo your save. Theros Beyond Death is a new set in a series of four based on the Greek mythology-inspired plane of Theros.
